Help! What is the treaty of Versailles?
The treaty of Versailles was the treaty signed between the Allies (Britain, USA and France) and Germany after WW1, it meant that Germany had to except blame for WW1, and that it could not have an army of more than 100,000 soldiers or any air force, and only 6 battleships in her navy, but no submarines. Germany also had to pay 6,600,000,000 ($33,000,000,000) to Britain, France and USA to pay for the damages caused by WW1. Also, no troops where allowed in The Rhineland, which was an area close to France. Additionally, Alsace-Lorraine was given to France (France had lost this land to Germany in a war in 1871.) and Germany lost a lot more land and all her colonies. Germany was also not allowed to unite with Austria. It was signed by Germany and the "big three" who were David Lloyd George (the British Prime Minister), Clemenceau (The French leader) and Woodrow Wilson (The American President). It was signed in Versailles.
