How old is a kitten usually when they begin to shed?

I bought a brush when I first brought home my two kittens (they are now 11 weeks old). When I try to brush them, nothing comes onto the brush. They don't shed on the furniture either. Should I still brush them to get them used to grooming, or wait until they are older and need it?
