How do i get the sound back on my uniden gmr1038-2 two-way radio? All sound is gone even button chirps!!?

Both radios have band new batteries and were working great but while using them one radio's sound stopped working even the chirps from pushing the buttons. I looked up and read the manual online but that wasn't any help. Is there any I can do to fix it or is it trash now????
