Why is the treaty of versailles so important?

One of the causes of WW2. It was an unworkable treaty that included swingeing war reparations for the Germans which came at a time of world economic chaos and whilst trying to create a republic there, more or less paved the way for Hitlers facists to come to power. It lacked any real teeth as the League of Nations turned out to be a complete failure.
