Why is my fire alarm chirping?

Why is it chirping ? I cannot reach it to replace the batterys and my dad will not be home to change the batteries until six its 1:23 and its getting really anoying. I think its the batteries but man is it anoying and i closed the door and its still chirping. Will it run out of battery in a few hours or will it keep chirping until six ?
